Chambers County held a public hearing and then approved an order establishing a reinvestment zone to support an economic development agreement with TGS CP 5300 East McKinney LLC.
County staff described the proposed project as a 420,000-square-foot third-party logistics facility that the applicant expects will create a minimum of 20 jobs. The reinvestment zone is a necessary step in the tax-abatement process; no public comments were offered during the hearing.
After the hearing, the court voted to formalize the reinvestment zone boundaries so the tax-abatement process can proceed.
Separately, the court approved an update to a previously authorized economic development agreement with a recycling operation (listed in the record as Talk to USA/Tawke), limited to date changes; staff said no other contract terms changed and that the facility is nearing readiness pending delivery of a baler.
Commissioners recorded approval of both items by voice vote.
