Chambers County Commissioners approved a guaranteed maximum price contract with GreenScape 6 to renovate the front nine at the county golf course.
A GreenScape 6 representative told the court the project will reshape and rebuild greens to USGA standards, update tee boxes, add bunkers, upgrade drainage and demuck ponds to improve irrigation water storage, replace pumps and install a new computerized irrigation system. The representative said crews planned to mobilize the following Monday and, barring weather delays, expected course reopening in late summer.
"Basically, we're going to create a new golf course pretty much. All the greens will be reshaped, built to USGA standards...and that's gonna be the big benefit is the irrigation," the GreenScape representative said.
Commissioners moved and seconded the contract approval after brief questions about schedule and pump station work; the court recorded the motion as carried.
