Superintendent Cleason details RSU 06 back-to-school schedule, staffing, bus safety and band trip

Superintendent Cleason told the RSU 06/MSAD 06 Board that the district’s back‑to‑school timeline is set: teachers return Monday, Aug. 25; all employees return Tuesday, Aug. 26; and most students will begin school on Aug. 27 with the remaining cohort starting Aug. 28. He said the district will hold a back‑to‑school convocation on the stadium field on Aug. 26 from 8:00–9:30 a.m.
Cleason noted the district is recognizing several employees for long service — including multiple staff reaching roughly 40 years of service — and reported low new‑teacher orientation numbers and no resignations to report at this time. He attributed improved staffing stability in part to board decisions on compensation and collaborative work with building leaders.
The superintendent also reported that school zone lights have been installed at some locations and that work continues at others; he urged drivers to be mindful because buses will soon be back on the road. Finally, Cleason announced an overnight out‑of‑state trip for the Bonny Eagle High School band and chorus scheduled for April 15–21, 2026.
