Carroll County supervisors approve routine business: invoices, donation, appointments and continued DSS funding

The Carroll County Board of Supervisors moved through routine business items and several administrative actions during the meeting.

The board certified that a previously convened closed session complied with the Virginia Freedom of Information Act (Code §2.2-3711(D)), with each supervisor stating the certification on the record. The board then approved minutes and the consent calendar after motions and recorded votes.

During invoice approval, a supervisor asked about a Northwestern invoice for $11,329 listed under rescue squad operating costs. Supervisor Martin explained the sum covered repairs to an ambulance the county took back after an agency closed and which the county redistributed; the board approved invoices as presented.

Under new business the board approved donating an IPF 810 printer declared surplus to a Carroll County heritage digitizing project for use at the Woodlawn Ag Building.

In committee appointments, the board reappointed Ronnie Mankins to the recreation commission (the vote recorded one 'No' from Mister Hurley) and reappointed Rebecca Taylor to the Mount Rogers board. The board also voted to continue funding the Department of Social Services with previously budgeted funds so it can operate normally during a government closure; that motion passed on recorded voice votes.
