The Euclid Planning & Zoning Commission voted 4–0 to forward a positive recommendation to the City Council for a conditional use permit for a daycare proposed at 26101 Euclid Avenue and approved a related parking variance.
Commissioner Swanson Sawyer moved to recommend approval of the conditional use; Commissioner Weymouth seconded and roll call was unanimous. Swanson Sawyer later moved to grant a variance permitting six combined off‑street parking spaces (a variance of eight) for the facility; Commissioner Monroe seconded. The commission approved the variance with conditions that the applicant address violation 302.3 and move the outdoor play area closer to the building for safety.
Staff described the two‑story, 3,900‑square‑foot building built in 1953, proposed hours of 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., initial staffing of four teachers and care for up to 20 children. Commissioner Muscatello noted outstanding items: a drop‑off/pick‑up plan, a fenced outdoor play area with bollards and a landscaping plan to meet mandatory buffer requirements under Euclid Codified Ordinances.
Applicant Sheree Austin said the facility will serve families and provide parent resources through an external partner; she and partner Willie Gary told commissioners they would secure additional parking agreements with adjacent property owners, repave and stripe the lot as needed, and relocate the play area nearer the building to reduce exposure to the adjacent street and a gas station across the way.
Commissioners required written confirmation of any off‑site parking agreements and reminded the applicant that final approval and full authorization depend on Euclid City Council action and issuance of building permits and a certificate of occupancy.
