Bryan ISD recognizes local donors, approves Workforce Solutions MOU to place career coach in schools

At its Sept. 8 workshop, the Bryan ISD board publicly recognized several community contributors and student projects and approved a partnership to expand career guidance.
Donor recognitions: Board members presented a Central Lake Community Partnership award to Hector and Olivia Badillo of H and O Trucking for a $17,000 donation that staff said covered roughly 3,000 staff T‑shirts at convocation. Donna Willett then recognized the Bryan ISD Education Foundation and reported the recent Hometown reunion raised just under $80,000 and drew about 900 community attendees.
Student work: Bryan High School’s Viking Graphics and animation club showcased an 'Essential 8' character project and district staff described plans to make teacher resources, posters and kits available across all 14 elementary schools.
Workforce MOU: Donna Willett presented a memorandum of understanding between Bryan ISD and Workforce Solutions Brazos Valley to place one career coach in the district. The coach will rotate across campuses, work with counselors and teach career‑readiness lessons and individual student planning. Trustee Hardin Wilson moved approval of the MOU and the board approved it by voice vote.
Board housekeeping: The consent agenda was approved earlier in the meeting by unanimous voice vote. The board later convened a closed session and reconvened without taking action before adjourning at 8:57 p.m.
