Bluff Town Council reviewed a draft airport overlay ordinance and agreed to send the proposal to a public hearing in October after correcting how and where the ordinance must be posted.
The draft, produced by the Hanson Group and reviewed by planning and zoning and the airport manager, was passed to the town for final vetting. Council members identified an error in the ordinance’s listed mandatory posting locations: one councilor noted the three required physical locations should be the post office, the community center and KMC, not the list currently in the draft.
Councilors discussed two options for scheduling the hearing and supporting approvals in October—either a first-week hearing with follow-up work session on the 14th and final action on the 21st, or a combined hearing and approval sequence later in the month. The council agreed the earlier schedule gives the town time to address any public comments during a subsequent work session.
Erin Nelson will prepare and post the required notices for the San Juan Record and appropriate town channels, and staff will confirm posting locations and the public-hearing date in advance of the October meetings.
