Burke County board meets new school resource officers, confirms continued SRO coverage

Lieutenant Michael Monroe introduced the SRO team and said he has served in the role for nine years and that he values working in Burke County schools: "I love Burke County," he said. Sergeant Mark, Deputy Paul Parker and Deputy Dukes each described their assignments across the high school and primary schools. Debbie (Coach Moore) described additional security experience and participation in the county SWAT team that she said enhances SRO capabilities. The presenters said the district remains short one SRO and that interviews were under way to fill the vacancy.
Board members thanked the SROs for their service and for being present for face-to-face interaction with school leaders.
Next steps: Recruitment continues to fill the vacancy; SROs will maintain scheduled assignments across schools.
