The Clovis Municipal Commission voted to rezone Malden Track 16 Lot 9 (1705 Axtell Street) from Residential Single Family (RS-7) to Commercial General (CG), allowing an existing mobile food truck operation to remain on the property.
At the meeting, staff member Mr. Wilt told commissioners the request meets the standards of the Unified Development Ordinance and is consistent with the city’s comprehensive plan. “The reason for the request is he's got that mobile food cart that's parking outside,” Wilt said, adding that the unit is actually a truck with a canopy where patrons can sit out of the weather.
Commissioners asked whether neighbors had objected; Wilt said required notifications were completed and staff received no objections. Commissioner Garza moved to approve the rezoning and the motion passed with an affirmative vote from the commission. Chairperson Moore informed the applicant that the rezoning decision will advance to the city commission for final approval and advised the applicant to confirm the date of that meeting with staff.
The action is a zone-map change only; the commission’s approval establishes that the parcel may be used under the city’s commercial zoning standards if the city commission confirms the decision. The applicant should plan to attend the city commission meeting for final action and to answer any follow-up questions from commissioners or staff.
