Residents tell Gonzales council a boxing gym incident raised safety and fairness concerns

Zoom commenter Sarah Martinez said her son, who has ADHD, was chased by an adult and then kicked out of the gym after seeking help there. She said the gym's staff were "very disrespectful" and questioned whether the facility was being operated professionally.
A Zoom commenter identifying as Pepper said they were falsely accused on social media of attending a July 4 event and asked that the record be cleared.
Council members heard the comments but did not take an immediate action during the meeting; Councilmember Silva corrected a mispronunciation of her name during public comments and council thanked the speakers. Staff did not announce any immediate enforcement action during the meeting but the public remarks put gym safety, pedestrian infrastructure and police handling squarely on the council's radar for follow-up.
The council did not vote on code enforcement during the meeting; speakers said videos of some incidents exist but no staff update or complaint disposition was provided at the time.
