Council holds first reading to dissolve Transportation Advisory Committee; to make it a Planning Commission subcommittee

City Council has taken initial action to dissolve the Transportation Advisory Committee and fold it into the Planning Commission as a subcommittee, Development Services staff told the commission.

"TAC will now become a subcommittee of the planning commission, how that will be filled as far as positions or if it's another hat you will wear similarly to Beach Dune and the airport zoning commission," said Andrew Dimas, Development Services. He said Council held a first reading of an ordinance at its most recent meeting and staff will draft the necessary municipal code amendments and provide a future presentation explaining procedural details.

Dimas described the change as procedural and said staff will "start to work out the details of how that will work procedurally and how it will be amended in the municipal code." Commissioners were told that details about membership and how the subcommittee will be staffed or appointed will be part of a future presentation to the commission.

Next steps: staff will return with specifics about appointments, membership and any municipal-code changes needed to complete the transition. The commission continued to other agenda items and then adjourned.
