Board discusses director evaluation rubric; members call sample fair and concise

Board members and staff discussed a sample director-evaluation rubric during the Cannon County Schools workshop on Nov. 13. The sample had been shared at a recent retreat; several members said it was concise, easy to read and covered relevant duties.
A board member said they were "on the same page as to what exactly" the evaluation would measure and that the sample appeared fair. One board member said it was hard to pick individual sections to remove because "each part is very relevant to what I do each and every day." Members requested that the retreat packet copy of the sample be distributed to all board members so they can be prepared for the director’s upcoming evaluation.
Next steps: staff will provide the retreat packet copy to board members and continue the rubric conversation ahead of the formal evaluation. The workshop transcript records discussion and favorable comments but no formal adoption or vote on the rubric.
