The Fairbanks North Star Borough Assembly voted unanimously on Oct. 23 to certify the Oct. 7, 2025 municipal election after reviewing a manual verification audit of selected races and precincts.
Borough Clerk April Tricke reported that the Election Canvas Board conducted a manual verification audit that compared hand counts with equipment counts for randomly selected contests — including School Board Seat C and a borough assembly race — and found no discrepancies. Tricke said the audit included a hand count of early voting for one race that required four hours to complete; the report documented 94 challenged ballots for reasons such as registration outside the borough, late registration, felonies under court supervision, missing identifiers, or unsigned absentee oaths.
Assemblymember Krauss moved and Assemblymember Rotterman seconded a motion accepting the Election Canvas Board report and declaring the regular municipal election "validly held." The assembly called the roll for the motion and recorded a 9‑0 vote to certify the election.
Clerk Tricke noted staff had sent letters to voters who had voted twice to request written explanations; those letters had a response deadline of Oct. 31. The assembly accepted the board’s report and moved on to other business.
