The Waukesha City Finance Committee on Nov. 11 approved a contract appointing Dr. Delery as the city's emergency medical services medical director, replacing the physician who is retiring after 10 years.
The committee's emergency services chief said the contract is required by state statute and that the city conducted an interview process before selecting Dr. Delery. "He's a phenomenal person. He's really invested in the community, and I think he's gonna be really good for the agency," the chief said.
Committee members asked whether adopting the new contract would raise costs. The chief said the contract terms mirror the prior agreement and, when raises included in the contract are accounted for, the terms are "a slight win for us." The chief also said the funds to cover the contract are available in the current budget.
With a motion and a second, the committee approved the contract by voice vote, 4-0. No additional conditions or amendments were recorded at the meeting.
The committee listed the item as ID 25-02498. The contract will proceed according to the normal administrative steps for execution and budgeting.
