Board rescinds 2023 decision to relocate district office after cost and legal review

Trustees and staff said follow‑up analysis and a site tour showed renovation and remediation costs at Spring View would be substantial and would divert funds from classrooms and student services. Several trustees described the required investment as disproportionate to the benefit and said the district should prioritize school facilities and programs over a costly relocation.
Madam Clerk and trustees also raised preexisting legal constraints affecting the Spring View gymnasium — part of earlier settlement language — and asked staff to analyze what would be needed to change those restrictions before any new uses could be implemented. Board direction accompanying the rescission emphasized renovating existing administrative facilities or pursuing other options that preserve green space and avoid multi‑unit residential development at neighborhood sites.
The rescission does not authorize a new plan for the district office; rather, the board asked staff to research renovation alternatives, cost estimates and community impacts and to return with options.
