Commissioners advise against burning as conditions are high; special canvass meeting set for Nov. 17

During the Nov. 12 special session, the presiding officer advised residents against burning because of high fire risk and recent winds, stating there was no need for formal action at the time. "It is a high risk day, with the winds that we've been having. So please tell your neighbor not to burn things," the presiding officer said.
Separately, the court announced a special called meeting at 9:00 a.m. Monday, Nov. 17 to canvass the constitutional amendment election; the court said that canvass is the only item on the Nov. 17 agenda. No votes on emergency burn restrictions or other related orders were recorded in the Nov. 12 transcript.
The court adjourned the special session shortly thereafter, correcting the adjournment time to 9:15 a.m.
