Ocean View trustees approve vendor agreements to expand childcare and services

At the Sept. 30 Ocean View School District Board of Trustees meeting, trustees unanimously approved multiple agreements intended to expand services for students and families.
Superintendent Dr. Julianne Hofer told the board that in the past week or two more than 100 students had been removed from the district’s childcare wait list as in‑district capacity and partnerships have expanded. "On tonight's agenda, the board will consider a contract with the Boys and Girls Club of Huntington Valley to provide free off‑site childcare for parents who are interested," Hofer said, noting the arrangement will expand access while the district grows on‑site childcare staffing.
The board voted 5‑0 to approve the Boys & Girls Club independent contractor agreement for the 2025–26 year. Trustees also approved an independent contractor agreement with Share Plate Strategies and an educational services agreement with Brianna Meschke Maclay; each motion passed unanimously. The board approved a memorandum of understanding with the State of California Commission on Teacher Credentialing for a provisional internship permit during the same meeting.
The motions were procedural and carried without discussion or amendment in each case; where specific contract terms, dollar amounts or contract numbers were referenced in the agenda packet they were not read into the record during the meeting. The superintendent and trustees described the childcare expansion as a practical way to increase access while the district continues to hire and train in‑house childcare staff.
