The Fullerton Joint Union High School District Board of Trustees used part of Tuesday’s meeting to recognize students and to announce a personnel appointment.
Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources Mark Miller introduced Christine (Christy) Navarro, who was presented as the district’s new director of fiscal services. Navarro, who joined FJUHSD in 2023 after more than seven years with the Anaheim Elementary School District, said she was honored to accept the role and thanked her fiscal services team and family for their support.
The board then recognized Simon Scholars — students selected for a scholarship program that supports scholars from a student’s sophomore year through college completion. School principals from Buena Park, Fullerton Union and La Habra provided short biographies of scholars, noting students’ enrollment in Early College Academy, AP Capstone, FFA, AVID, and other pathways, plus their college plans.
Student Board Member Ari presented the November student report summarizing October activities across campuses, including Red Ribbon Week, homecoming events, ASB-led initiatives, and multiple athletic teams advancing to CIF competitions.
The Fullerton Council PTA president Joanne Cho reported council membership numbers (4,283 members) and community events including Pathways of Hope and an upcoming PTA Reflections Art Showcase.
District and school leaders used the reports to highlight student achievement and upcoming arts and athletics events.
