The Brea Olinda Unified School District Board reported in open session that, following closed session, the board appointed Joshua Porter to the role of assistant superintendent of human resources. The appointment is effective "to be determined" and contingent on final background clearances, according to the president’s closed-session report.
Joshua Porter briefly introduced himself at the podium, described prior experience in nearby districts and thanked the board and community. "I'm really looking forward to being here to build developing good, strong relationships with our labor partners," Porter said during his remarks. Board members welcomed him and expressed excitement for him to begin once outstanding checks are cleared.
Separately, the Mojave Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution presented a plaque to recognize Brea Junior High School’s history; Sarah Clark explained the plaque text and historical research supporting it. Board and district leaders thanked the chapter and announced plans to install the plaque at the school, and they invited those present to a photo opportunity.
Next steps: Staff will confirm Mr. Porter’s effective start date following completion of required background checks and will notify the board and public when dates are finalized.
