Superintendent Jason Glass (speaker 12) told the Laguna Beach Unified School District Board on Oct. 23 that the next step after the hundred‑day report is a community‑vetted three‑year strategic plan. He described a three‑phase process: validation of findings from the hundred‑day listening work, sequencing and drafting in early 2026, and board deliberation and approval in March.
"If everything is a priority, then nothing is," Glass said, urging the board to help distill the community's input into a realistic, sequenced set of goals. The plan will include trust and coherence, student voice, and alignment with existing LCAP goals where practical, Glass said.
Trustees asked how the strategic plan will interact with the district's statutorily required Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP). Glass answered that the documents should align and that the strategic plan is not intended to create duplicative processes; where statutory LCAP requirements constrain language, the district will still try to align strategic priorities with LCAP goals.
Glass said the validation phase will begin immediately with targeted outreach to stakeholders, staff and students, and that the district will return drafts to the board for input before asking the board to approve a final plan in March.
What happens next: staff will run community validation activities, draft sequencing in January–February, and present a proposed strategic plan to the board for consideration in March.
