Henrico County supervisors opened their Nov. 12 meeting with several community recognitions and updates.
County Manager recognized Lieutenant Pat Crook as a legacy employee for 45 years of service with the Henrico County Police Division. Crook addressed the board and thanked colleagues and staff for the support he received across his career.
The board presented a resolution recognizing 25 years of Housing Families First; Beth Van Turnbull, executive director, accepted on behalf of the organization and thanked staff and community partners for the long partnership helping families in need.
Miss Ann McGee, the 2025 Henrico Christmas Mother, told the board the program — active since 1942 — will serve about 1,625 families this season, up by roughly 100 families over last year. McGee said distribution will begin Dec. 8, run for five days at a county-supplied warehouse in the East End, and rely on roughly 500 community volunteers; she thanked Henrico County Public Schools for food donations and urged volunteers to sign up.
Julian, division director for history, heritage and natural resources, delivered remarks on Native American Heritage Month, urged awareness of indigenous histories in Henrico and noted the counties’ proximity to historically significant tribal lands.
These presentations were largely ceremonial but provide direct volunteer and service information for residents interested in participating in holiday assistance programs.
