The board voted to fund guardrail replacements along 500 North and at Walnut, approving a $49,800 quote from CTEC covering the whole section and directing payment from the Morrison TIF. County Engineer Dean Thomas said the existing guardrail sections “are not in compliance with current NDoT spec,” describing the work as a safety liability the county could not complete in-house. The commission adopted the motion after discussion of contractor quotes and funding sources.
Commissioners also approved the Gaston sidewalk preliminary design and land acquisition. United Consulting presented a preliminary plan for about 600 feet of sidewalk with a rounded construction estimate of $120,000 (includes a 10% contingency and an inflation allowance).
