Davenport issues proclamation for Third Missionary Baptist Church’s 150th and honors parade winners

The City of Davenport on Nov. 12 issued a proclamation marking the 150th anniversary of Third Missionary Baptist Church.
Mayor Mike Matson and Alderwoman Anne Burkholder read the proclamation, noting that the congregation was founded in 1875 and has provided long-standing outreach, worship and community services. The council moved the proclamation, it was seconded and adopted by voice vote.
Frank Holland accepted the proclamation on behalf of the church and thanked the mayor and council for their support. Council members also recognized winners of the city’s Oct. 26 Halloween parade, announced by staff and presented with trophies. The mayor thanked city departments and partners including MidAmerican Energy and the Downtown Davenport Partnership for their roles in the event.
