Shelton planning commission approves five business signs in unanimous votes

The Shelton Planning and Zoning Commission unanimously approved five sign permits at its Nov. 12 meeting, clearing applications for Hampton Inn, The Shelton Grove, Glaze Grind, Ink and Blink Studio, and Little Town LLC.

Chair Virginia Harger called the meeting to order and commissioners then handled a group of sign applications that staff and the subcommittee recommended for approval. "We recommended approval," Commissioner Amato said when presenting the Hampton Inn application, which the commission approved on a 6–0 roll-call vote. Similar roll-call votes approved The Shelton Grove (6–0), Glaze Grind (6–0), Ink and Blink Studio (6–0) and Little Town (6–0).

Commissioners noted only minor design or placement questions in some applications. For Glaze Grind, the subcommittee recommended removal of a round medallion from the building peak; staff reported the applicant removed the element before the meeting. For Little Town, staff said the business had already completed a grand opening and that some signage was in place prior to formal permitting, but commissioners approved the permit after staff confirmed the application met standards.

Land use assistant Eva Martino and other staff coordinated information on the applications and confirmed zoning and engineering had no outstanding objections. Each approval was recorded by roll-call and passed unanimously.

The approvals conclude the applicants' current sign-permit process; any future alterations will require separate filings.
