At the November meeting the Hamblen County Board of Education and district staff recognized schools that participated in the Tennessee Department of Education Changemakers cohort and previewed related supports for academics and behavior.
Krista, a district staff member, told the board that the district received the Changemakers Award and named participating schools — including Hillcrest Elementary, Lincoln Heights Elementary, Grett Elementary, Lincoln Heights Middle School, West Elementary, Moorestown East High School, Meadowview Middle School and John Hay Elementary — that will continue the cohort work for three years.
District leaders thanked Lincoln Elementary students for leading the Pledge and acknowledged Veterans Day with board members inviting veterans to stand for recognition.
Board members praised teachers and staff for the work that led to the recognition and said the district will continue the acceleration and behavior interventions supported through the award.
