Hamblen County board approves smart‑board contracts, large budget amendment and a part‑time special‑education hire

The Hamblen County Board of Education on its November agenda approved several financial and personnel actions, including technology contracts, a major budget amendment and a part‑time special‑education hire.

Board members approved mirrored purchase contracts to provide smart‑board mounting hardware, warranties and installation for Lincoln Heights Middle School and Meadowview Middle School at $34,164 each after a motion from Miss Clawson and a second from Miss Smith.

The board also approved a 2025–26 general purpose budget amendment totaling $44,972,416 and accepted the September 2025 financial reports (motion by Mister Harville; second by Mister Kinder). The financial motion passed by voice vote.

On personnel, the board approved adding a part‑time certified special education teacher for Weisberg and Witt elementary schools at a cost of $28,000 through the 2025–26 school year. Mister Williams moved the item and Miss Claussen seconded it; the motion passed by voice vote.
