The Brea Olinda Unified School District board voted unanimously to renew Superintendent Brenda Leon’s employment contract.
Trustees praised Leon’s first-year accomplishments during an unplanned round of remarks before the vote, citing initiatives that included adding three quarter-day transitional kindergarten sections, expanding CTE (career technical education) pathways (including EMT), partnering with Fullerton College for dual enrollment, leading Measure H efforts and installing perimeter fencing at district schools. Trustee comments also noted improvements in communications and reduced chronic absenteeism.
"She is a phenomenal leader who deserves to be paid accordingly," one trustee said during the public commendations before the vote. After the board approved the renewal, Leon thanked trustees and staff: "I'm truly humbled and touched," she said, and noted the district serves about 5,800 students.
The vote to renew the superintendent’s contract was recorded as unanimous (5–0). The board said the action reflects its support for the superintendent’s leadership and directed staff to continue work tied to district priorities.
