Board approves consent items, bonds resolution and service agreement; two abstentions recorded

The Erie Public Schools Board took several formal actions during its Nov. 12 meeting.
Consent agenda and social media policy: The board approved the consent agenda (items under item 7), including authorization to establish district social media accounts under a recently passed board policy (item 7.04). The motion to approve the consent agenda passed on roll call with recorded affirmative votes.
General-obligation bonds (item 9.01): Director Harkins moved and Director Nichols seconded a resolution authorizing general-obligation bonds. The roll-call vote recorded affirmative votes from voting members and the resolution passed.
Service agreement with Family Services (item 9.02): The board moved to approve a service agreement with Family Services in Northwest Pennsylvania. Miss Amatangelo announced she would abstain because she is an employee of Family Services, and the roll call recorded at least one other abstention (Miss Sametangelo). Remaining votes were recorded as yes and the motion passed with abstentions noted.
Schedule of bills and payroll (items 10.01 and 10.02): The board approved the schedule of bills; roll call showed at least one abstention (Miss Gillespie) and the motion carried. The board then approved board-authorized payrolls on a roll-call vote with affirmative votes recorded by present members.
