District leaders told the school board they've formed a 48-member steering committee and launched a Panorama data platform holding 2022—2025 records to guide a 3—5-year strategic plan, with focus groups and public dashboards to follow.
Miss Gatewood, the district's strategic planning lead, told the Erie Public Schools Board of Directors the district has formed a steering committee and is moving forward with a multi-year strategic plan and a new data-management platform. "Tonight, we're providing an update on two major initiatives driving continuous improvement within our district," Gatewood said, introducing the strategic planning timeline and the Panorama integration.
Gatewood said 61 individuals responded to the call for steering-committee volunteers and roughly 48 committed to serve, with a membership that includes district administrators, principals, teachers, support staff, parents, business partners and community-school directors. "This initiative is a cornerstone effort to provide a clear actionable roadmap for improving student outcomes, advancing equity, and strengthening district operations over the next three years," she said.
On Panorama, Gatewood said the platform has been loaded with four years of historical data (2022—2025) to centralize attendance, behavior, perception surveys and graduation-tracking information. She described a rollout plan that includes finalizing system configuration in November—January, board and staff professional development, pilot programs for pathways focused on college and career readiness, and communications-led public dashboards.
Board members asked whether Panorama would replace vendors' outward-facing dashboards. "K12 was not one of the vendors that actually had a feature," Gatewood said, and she added that the district's communications department will manage any outward-facing dashboard content. Gatewood also said the district is beginning work with Panorama on a districtwide AI policy.
The board was directed to the strategic-plan dashboard on the district website for updates and steering-committee membership listings; Gatewood said focus groups will begin meeting in December with both in-person and virtual options.
The next procedural step is continued committee work and targeted professional development for board members and staff followed by pilot launches and public reporting as configuration is finalized.
