The motion was made by Mr. Grania and seconded (as entered in the record). The roll-call sequence in the minutes recorded affirmative votes from Miss Angley, Miss Catamatory, Miss Delaure, Mr. Delaure, Mr. Grania, Miss Connor, Mr. Klufel, Miss Norwood and Miss McGurk.
Public comment before the vote included Patricia Waiters, who criticized what she described as board hostility toward members of the public, raised prior affirmative action complaints and said she had "a very serious matter" she would not put on the public record but requested that the board president contact her because it was "time sensitive." Waiters told the board, "Every item on this agenda, I'm a disagree with," and urged the board to ensure funds are directed toward classrooms rather than stipends.
Manuel Rivera Soler spoke in non-agenda public comment to congratulate recently elected trustees and urged continued fiscal responsibility: "Please make all the effort you can to hold true to your word and your promises and to make the district as well managed and fiscally responsible as possible," he said.
Later in the meeting the board voted to enter executive session "for the purpose of discussing matters covered by attorney-client privilege and contract negotiations" and stated it would be approximately 60 to 75 minutes and that no action would be taken while in executive session. The assembly recessed into executive session at 8:04 p.m.; the public portion resumed at 9:49 p.m., and the board adjourned shortly thereafter.
No policy or contract outcomes were reported in public session; the board said no formal action would be taken while in executive session.
