The presentation compared the district (represented in the slide deck as blue) with state results (orange), reviewed subgroup performance by race and program type, and highlighted progress across English language learners, students with IEPs and economically disadvantaged students. Rodriguez Gomez credited the district's targeted investments'including expanded Orton-Gillingham professional development, protected intervention blocks, pacing and problem-based math instruction'for the improvements.
The district also described partnerships and data work done with Lincoln (an assessment and benchmarking firm) to prepare navigation reports that compare Hoboken performance to state benchmarks. Rodriguez Gomez said the NJSLA will move to an adaptive format this year and that principals will present school-level data in upcoming community sessions.
Board materials and the superintendent's remarks noted that gains were not uniform across every grade and subgroup; district leaders said they will continue emphasizing systematic phonics and targeted middle-grades supports where content complexity increases. The district's NJQSAC (New Jersey Quality Single Accountability Continuum) self-evaluation and related district performance reviews were also referenced as part of ongoing accountability work.
