Keizer planning commission swears in returning and new members, welcomes youth liaison

Keizer — The Keizer Planning Commission opened its Nov. 12 meeting with ceremonial business including the swearing‑in of two returning commissioners and a newly appointed commissioner, and the introduction of a youth liaison.
City Attorney Lindsay administered the oath of office for the commissioners. Dr. Larry Scruggs, introduced as a newly sworn commissioner, said his previous role included 21 years of planning work for the University of Portland and that he looks forward to contributing to the commission. Chair Paul Lawyer welcomed the returning members and thanked them for volunteering their time.
The commission also introduced the youth liaison, Talia, a senior at McNary High School, who said she joined to give back and to learn more about local government. Commissioners encouraged the liaison to raise school news and community items at future meetings and pointed to staff and councilors as resources.
The meeting then moved to regular business, including a public hearing on a text amendment for Keizer Station Area B.
