Miss Rosalie, the building official, told the Planning Commission that staff will bring a proposal at the next meeting to adopt the International Code Council 2024 (ICC 2024) building code locally. Rosalie said the county is currently using the 2018 edition and that the state adopted the 2021 code; she recommended ICC 2024 because it is closer to 2018 and would reduce disruption for local contractors.
Rosalie highlighted specific differences raised in other jurisdictions after adopting the 2021 code (for example, vapor barrier thickness changes) and said staff will present the 2024 package for discussion next month. She also distributed a training‑hours summary for commissioners and said annual ethics statements will be prepared for members to submit to the state.
Commissioners confirmed there will be a codes and zoning meeting in December to finalize cleanups, with the item returning to the Planning Commission in January and then to the county commission for readings and a vote. County attorney review will continue as staff finalizes edits.
