The county Planning Commission voted unanimously to recommend rezoning of a 3.01‑acre parcel at 2745 Old Highway 25 so owner Vivian Stafford can split the parcel into two lots.
Staff told the commission the request is to change the parcel from R‑1 to allow subdivision into two parcels in the 6th District. At the meeting, Stafford said she plans to give one acre to a neighboring property owner; Taylor Todd, who said he bought much of his parents’ adjoining farm, described the acre as needed for fencing and to tidy property lines.
Commission members clarified that the Planning Commission can only make a recommendation to the county commission, which has the authority to rezone and must hold its own hearings. “All this body does is listen to your request,” the presiding official said.
Mister Nollner moved to send a favorable recommendation to the county commission; the motion was seconded and carried unanimously.
The rezoning will next appear before the county commission, which will schedule its hearings and make the final decision.
