Milwaukee committee holds 2026 community block grant allocation; follow-up set for Dec. 3

Alderman Russell Stanford II, chair of the Community Economic Development Committee, announced the committee would hold the substitute resolution establishing the 2026 funding allocation plan for community block grant funding (item 10) "for 1 more cycle" because of concerns about some funding. He said the committee "does expect to fully fund everyone" but needed more time to address questions.
Tim Bach, president and CEO of Pathway, asked whether the hold covered the full allocation plan and specifically whether it included CDBG (Community Development Block Grant) and ESG (Emergency Solutions Grant) funds. Stanford replied that the hold did include CDBG and ESG funds. The committee set a follow-up date of Dec. 3 and said affected applicants would be notified in advance.
Alderman Maria Dimitrijevic moved to hold the file; the motion was approved with no objection. Committee members and staff said they would reach out to applicants with additional details and that funding is expected to continue in the next cycle.
The committee also placed related business improvement district material on hold during the same period; the agenda item will return for further consideration at the December meeting.
