Three Rivers board moves forward on personnel and athletics items including termination and wrestling trip
Summary
At the Nov. 11 meeting the board presented and approved consent agenda items including hires for substitute bus drivers, two teacher retirements effective May 23, 2026, the termination of a bus driver effective Nov. 6, 2025, approval of a home-instructor contract, athletic supplemental contracts and an overnight wrestling trip to Defiance High.
District staff (Speaker 6) read the personnel and athletics consent agenda (items a–k), which included recommended hires for substitute bus drivers (Jamie Ward and James Willingham) with an initial sub non-CDL rate of $17.85 per hour rising to the sub-CDL rate of $21.32 per hour once training and verification are complete; the transportation supervisor was tasked with notifying the treasurer when CDLs are completed.
Personnel items on the consent agenda also included retirements for teachers Chris Allen and Marty Murphy, both effective May 23, 2026 (with stipends tied to timely retirement notification), a termination for bus driver Kevin Felix effective Nov. 6, 2025, and approval of Katie Moody as a home instructor for the 2025–26 school year at $30 per hour (not to exceed five hours weekly). Under athletics, the board had a slate of recommended supplemental contracts for wrestling staff and approved an overnight trip for varsity wrestlers (grades 9–12) to a tournament at Defiance High School departing 12/28/2025 and returning 12/30/2025; no district funds will be used for the trip.
Speaker 2 also recommended acceptance of several charitable donations to support scholarships and student assistance, including $2,000 from the Johnny Green Memorial Fund to Taylor High School’s scholarship fund and multiple gifts to the district’s "Jackie Cares" student-support program.
On the record: the presiding officer called for a motion to approve items a–k; subsequent recorded votes included affirmative responses from Missus Hughes, Mister Evans and Mister McDonald. Personnel and athletics items presented in the consent agenda were recorded as accepted and will be implemented by Human Resources and Athletics departments.
What’s next: Human Resources will process hires, retirements, and termination notifications for payroll and benefit effects; athletics staff will finalize travel logistics for the Defiance tournament.
