Auburn staff names Dustin Rogers employee of the month for August 2025

A city staff member formally nominated Dustin Rogers as the City of Auburn’s employee of the month for August 2025, citing his work as a stormwater coordinator in the Watershed Division of Water Resource Management and his role in the city’s Phase 2 MS4 (municipal separate storm sewer system) program.

"It's my honor to nominate Dustin Rogers as employee of the month for August 2025," the staff member said, noting Rogers joined the Watershed Division in February 2020. The presenter described Rogers' duties as implementing the city's erosion and sediment-control inspection and enforcement program, performing post-construction and outfall stormwater inspections, and ensuring compliance with the MS4 program.

The staff member highlighted two initiatives Rogers led to improve inspections: researching utility terrain vehicles (UTVs) to increase efficiency on large construction sites and maintaining a UAS remote pilot license to perform drone inspections. "Both the UTV and the UAS remote drone pilot license positively expand the effectiveness and efficiency of the city's construction site erosion and sediment control inspections," the presenter said.

The nomination also cited Rogers' community outreach. The presenter said he helped promote the MS4 program at the city's annual Bark in the Park event each March and organized and participated in stream cleanups, including a cleanup on Parkinson's Mill Creek last May. The presenter added that Rogers pilots the drone to document water board tanks and Lake Ogletree sinkholes, investigates citizen complaints, and "provides friendly and professional customer service to the citizens of Auburn with distinction."
