The Everman City Council on Nov. 11 held a series of badge-pinning and oath ceremonies for new public-safety and animal-services staff.
In a presentation before the council, Animal Services Director introduced Marin (Maren) Hoffa and led a badge-pinning and swearing-in for the new Animal Services Officer. Later the council administered the oath to a recent police academy graduate identified in the transcript as Daquan Ryans (the oath also records the name variant “Jaquan Ryan”), who staff said had passed state testing and was in field training on night shift. “She’s already been working really hard to find homes,” the animal-services presenter said about the new animal officer.
The council also recognized firefighters Matthew Ingram and Christopher Fox for completing probation and the department’s required skills evaluations. Both repeated the department oath in open session. “These gentlemen have had to really prove themselves as firefighters,” a staff member said, noting the “very rigorous” training they completed.
The ceremonies were ceremonial in nature; no formal council vote or policy action accompanied the swearing-in items. The council moved on to regular business after recognizing the new staff.
The administration noted active-shooter training and other ongoing training efforts across departments, and said the new personnel will join existing teams in operations and field training.
