Lewisburg council approves budget amendment, rezoning, appointments and grants

At its Nov. 10 meeting, the Lewisburg City Council approved a FY2025–26 budget amendment, rezoned a Vista Street parcel for industrial park use, confirmed several board appointments, authorized a staff Christmas bonus and approved a 50% bulletproof-vest grant application.
Lewisburg City Council approved a package of ordinances, appointments and grant applications during its Nov. 10, 2025 regular meeting at Lewisburg City Hall.
The council approved the second reading of Ordinance 25‑15, a fiscal year 2025–26 budget amendment. Councilwoman Michael moved the measure and Councilwoman Robertson seconded; a roll-call vote recorded Aye votes and the ordinance carried.
The council also approved the second reading of Ordinance 25‑16, a rezoning request for property at 540 Vista (owner: Flying Hawk Properties LLC). Planning and Zoning recommended the rezoning by a 6–0 vote on Sept. 16, 2025. Councilman Burns moved the ordinance; Councilman Crutcher seconded, and the council voted Aye to adopt the rezoning to I‑2 (industrial park).
On appointments, the council confirmed Ken Lilly and Michael Tipper to the Industrial Development Board (terms through June 1, 2031) and appointed Emily Darnell to the Community Development Board (term through June 30, 2026). Motions were made and seconded and roll-call votes recorded Ayes for each appointment.
The council approved a $100 employee Christmas bonus to be paid in the December 2025 payroll after a motion by Councilwoman Thomas and a second by Councilwoman Michael.
Council also adopted Resolution 25‑28 to apply for the Patrick Leah bulletproof vest grant, a program that will reimburse the city for 50% of vest purchases for law enforcement. Councilwoman Thomas moved the resolution and Councilman Burns seconded; the motion passed by recorded Aye votes.
On first readings, the council approved first reading of Ordinance 25‑11 to repeal the existing Title 13 property maintenance regulations and adopt the 2024 International Property Maintenance Code as the new Title 13; staff clarified the property‑maintenance ordinance does not include the rental‑registration items discussed during public comment. The council also approved first reading of Ordinance 25‑17, a rezoning request for 400 Creekside Drive; planning recommended that measure 5–0 on Oct. 21, 2025.
All formal motions recorded in the agenda were moved, seconded and carried by roll-call Ayes as recorded in the meeting minutes. The meeting adjourned after council business concluded.
