North Miami CRA conducts electronic lottery for five affordable units; results posted

A staff member for the North Miami Community Redevelopment Agency announced and conducted an electronic lottery on the evening of the meeting for five housing units reserved for households at 70% of area median income (AMI). "This evening's drawing will be for 5 units at this location for residents who are at 70% of AMI," the staff member said.

The drawing was performed using random.org, and staff said the winners were displayed on the meeting screen. The staff member said the original draw was recorded and videoed and that the published results are from that first recorded draw. "For clarity, this draw was only done 1 time and was videoed, was recorded at the time that it was done," the staff member said.

Staff provided public-access details for the results: they will be posted on the agency website at northmiamicra.org and will be available in person at the agency offices at 735 Northeast 125th Street, Suite 100, North Miami, Florida 33161. Staff also provided a contact phone number, (305) 895-9839, for follow-up questions.

During the meeting staff noted a technical difficulty and said they would redo the drawing; shortly afterward staff reiterated that the published results reflect the first recorded draw and that the first five names listed will have first opportunity to accept the units. The staff member said, "So we have the first 5... the first 5 are the ones that are gonna be getting the first opportunity at the units."

The announcement closed with staff thanking attendees. No formal vote or legislative action was recorded during this item; the event was an administrative housing lottery and not a rulemaking or ordinance vote.
