The City of Stuart commission used part of its Nov. 10 meeting to recognize several staff for years of service and to remember James Allen, the city's chief plant operator at the water reclamation facility, who passed away two weeks earlier.
The mayor and commissioners acknowledged employees with milestone service awards (including a 10-year, 30-year and 35-year honorees) and highlighted the contributions of city staff who maintain essential services. Interim City Manager Jolie and other department leaders offered brief remarks about Allen's leadership in utilities and the important civic role of long-serving staff.
The commission presented a 10-year service award on behalf of Allen; his wife Josephine accepted the award and commissioners expressed condolences to the family.
