District finance staff told the Finance Committee on Nov. 12 that FY27 budget development is underway: pro forma budgets and capital requests have been submitted and the finance team will meet with departments next week to review requests. The capital package will include WestRock construction and related projects, staff said.
CFO Linda Asimani said the superintendent’s recommended budget will be presented to the board at the December workshop after internal reviews. A community town hall is scheduled next Wednesday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. to present the results of a budget survey that drew more than 500 family responses. "At the community town hall next week, I will be presenting the findings from those surveys, the priorities that the families have indicated are important to them," Asimani said.
Pro forma submissions include requests from central office and cabinet; the district will use the town‑hall feedback, disaggregated by school level, to inform the superintendent’s recommendation. Staff said they will report the recommended budget at the December workshop and continue outreach during the FY27 process.
The Finance Committee approved the budget transfers earlier in the meeting and adjourned at 6:38 p.m.
