Brian Ace of the Boys & Girls Club told the board the state Department of Commerce requires a 25% match of private funds and that the district’s cooperation — a 10-year covenant that the renovated space remain for youth use — is needed to finalize the grant. "That's a request of you to grant the superintendent approval to sign those documents in order to get those funds released," Ace said. The board approved the request by voice vote.
Administration described the 2025–26 school improvement plans as state-required, living documents. District staff said principals will present condensed, single‑page overviews in future meetings to show progress on longer-term goals. The board approved the plans by voice vote.
Other approved items included: routine vouchers and payroll, consent items A–C and memoranda of understanding with Central Washington University to host student teachers. A board trustee asked about a recent check to Communities and Schools; staff replied the district still funds part of the middle‑school contract through Title I and Thrive grant sources.
The approvals were presented as compliance and partnership actions rather than new program funding decisions. The board did not attach additional conditions to the superintendent’s authority to execute the Boys & Girls Club documents; the district noted its existing lease terms and standard youth-use protections extend beyond the 10-year period requested by the state.
