Superintendent: favorable bond rates, Von Renner and Orestimba projects moving forward

Superintendent Pruitt told the Newman-Crows Landing Unified School District board that recent bond results produced a favorable rate that slightly lowered the district's borrowing cost and that several capital projects are advancing.
"We did receive a really good rate, and it actually dropped our rate a little bit because it was so positive," Pruitt said, summarizing a bond-call update. He said drawings are complete and moving forward for the Von Renner project, which will remove portable classrooms and replace them with a permanent classroom building and new blacktop. He also said track drawings for Orestimba are progressing with DSA review.
Pruitt said the projects and bond results will be shared with the district's citizens oversight committee and requested board direction on scheduling a December governance workshop. Board members expressed support for the proposed December governance session and for completing planning work on Von Renner and Orestimba projects.
No dollar amounts for the bond issue or construction contracts were provided in the public meeting record.
