Students from Royal Palm Beach Elementary led the Education Advisory Board meeting on Nov. 10, 2025 with a Veterans Day program and a presentation on school culture and safety.
Principal Getty told the board the school has been A‑rated since it opened in 2002, described staff experience levels and noted that more than 90% of faculty and staff have children currently enrolled at or who graduated from the school. Students recited the school expectations: "Be safe. Be respectful. Be a learner." The presentations highlighted several safety and support systems, including a trusted‑adult program that pairs students with an adult mentor, a staff badge‑activated crisis alert system (transcript: "SyntyGics") and online reporting through FortifyFL.
"If you see something, say something," a student presenter said, summarizing the school's approach to community safety and reporting. Principal Getty detailed academic supports such as 'First Chapter Fridays,' 'Morphology Mondays' for word study, math spiral reviews and timed fluency checks intended to boost reading and numeracy across grades K–5.
The school also described volunteer and community partnerships. Getty said Royal Palm Beach Elementary is working with the Palm Beach County Literacy Coalition's 'Building Better Readers' program and currently has four trained volunteers providing twice‑weekly instruction.
Principal Getty reported the school has collected 883 nonperishable food items for a Thanksgiving drive that will support 20 families and asked the community for Publix gift cards or turkeys to supplement donations.
The board and Mayor Jeff Hamera praised the students' performances; Hamera urged attendees to remember veterans and their families during the holiday period. The meeting continued with regional and district reports after the presentation.
The Education Advisory Board recorded no formal vote on the presentation. Next scheduled meeting: Dec. 8, 2025, when Western Academy Charter School will present.
