Superintendent gives detailed stadium construction update and announces grant activity

Superintendent (S2) provided a detailed update on the district—s stadium construction and related funding efforts.
S2 said excavation reached about 15.5 inches and crews are building the drainage and ballast layers that must be staged from coarse rock down to sand before an AP pad and turf installation. Four semi-trailers holding stadium materials were reported to be in Texas awaiting shipment; superintendent staff expected materials to arrive once footings and foundations are prepared. "Our goal is still to finish this by the end of the of December," S2 said, while noting that some elements such as the rubberized track coating require warmer, drier conditions and may not be completed until spring.
S2 also noted delivery orders for restrooms, scoreboard and lighting, and said lights could be installed by the end of December if schedules and weather permit. The superintendent emphasized the stadium will be available for some spring sports practices even if all finishing work is deferred until better weather.
On funding, S2 said staff wrote four grant applications that day for programming and infrastructure needs and highlighted several community contributions, such as donated sewing machines at Columbia Crest. S2 also announced that the Eatonville board had been named a Board of Distinction and that the district would issue a press release when recognition is finalized.
The board heard the update and no formal vote or additional funding authorization was requested at this meeting.
