The City of Live Oak council voted to accept proposed changes to the evening’s agenda and approved the Oct. 13 meeting minutes.
A motion to accept the agenda modifications (reordering several items and removing one item) was moved by a councilmember (S4) and seconded by another councilmember (S2); the motion passed by voice vote. A separate motion to approve the Oct. 13 minutes was made and seconded and also passed by voice vote.
The council recognized Florida City Week with presentations and an essay/poster contest. Avery Smith, a sixth-grade student and contest winner, spoke about community ideas—an agriculture education attraction, addressing street drainage on cut-through roads, creating a community garden, and building an enclosed playground safe for autistic children—and thanked the council for the opportunity to speak. Officials from the Chamber of Commerce and scavenger-hunt sponsors presented awards to named students and their schools.
The presiding officer closed the recognition portion of the meeting and the council moved on to the scheduled presentation on the CRA study.
