Mayor Miller details food pantry, coat drive, holiday parade and community programs

Mayor Miller reported a series of community events and services to the caucus. He said the food pantry distribution will be held Monday, Nov. 24, from 9:15 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the new permanent location behind the Great Hall, 6764 5th Street, with entry from Garfield by the Struthers High School football stadium. Mayor Miller also noted an active solicitation permit for Spectrum to conduct weekend outreach on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The mayor thanked Amvets for donating 45 winter coats to the local Salvation Army and congratulated winners of the Struthers 2025 Halloween house decorating contest; the overall winner was 2194 Manor (Terry Williams), and the hometown-house winners were listed as Scott and Alexis Burry. He highlighted Dylan’s House caregiver grants (applications due Nov. 20; winners announced Nov. 24) and said a groundbreaking on Judith Lane will be scheduled soon. He also reminded residents to register for the Struthers Christmas parade on Dec. 5 and said registration for city entrants is due Dec. 3.
The mayor’s report also noted the Rotary Garden Club’s planting work at the park entrance, and the city’s ongoing efforts to advertise services and community events through social media and office registration forms.
