Long-time resident services coordinator Joey De Silva thanks board as he plans career change

During the public-comment portion of the Nov. 13 meeting, Joey De Silva, who identified himself as the program services coordinator for the Housing Authority's resident services and a Fall River resident, thanked the commission for the opportunity to serve "for the last 20 plus years" and said he is pursuing a career in policing.
"It's been a pleasure," De Silva said, listing community programs he has coordinated, including community resource efforts, cookouts and food drives. He told the commission that he wants to "go over there and try to save kids" by working in law enforcement in neighborhood settings.
Members of the commission and other attendees offered De Silva congratulations and good wishes for his next steps. The comment was recorded during the citizen input portion of the meeting; no board action was associated with the remark.
The authority's executive director later thanked staff and residents and relayed a thank-you card from Teresa Quintel to the board.
