Sandusky boards back plan to revive parent summit with school district partners

A board member told the Sandusky Boards & Commissions that interim Sandusky City Schools superintendent Denny Meritori has agreed to take part in pre-planning for a revived parent summit.
The board member said the parent summit began in about 2010 with support from the local NAACP, was later housed under the district, and fell dormant after the pandemic. "He's already agreed to be in, like, a pre planning stage to reach out to the different partners," the board member said, asking recreation staff and community organizations to think about session topics.
Possible session topics discussed included after-school programming, the grandparents-raising-grandchildren pilot, pool scheduling and youth sports. The board member suggested partners could include the school district, Boys & Girls Club, Serving Our Seniors and the city’s recreation department.
Organizers are targeting mid- to late-March for the summit. No final date, agenda or formal funding source was announced at the meeting.
